Kimi's Milestones

2006
More commonly known by his middle name, Andrea 'Kimi' Antonelli was born in Bologna, Italy, in 2006. He joined our Junior Programme in April 2019, aged 12.
2019
That season (2019), Kimi won the WSK Euro Series and Super Master Series titles at OK Junior category. He also finished runner-up in the FIA European Karting Championship, and finished P5 in the World Championship.
2020
Kimi stepped up to the OK Class for 2020, and claimed the FIA Karting European Championship, as well as the WSK Euro Series.
2021
The Italian would retain his FIA European Championship in 2021, and got his first taste of single-seater action in Italian Formula 4 with PREMA. In nine races, Kimi achieved three podiums.
2022
The German and Italian F4 titles were secured in 2022 thanks to 22 wins, 21 poles and 27 podiums.
2023
A move up to Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) followed for 2023, and Kimi claimed the title at the first attempt thanks to five victories. At the start of the year, he won the Middle Eastern version of the series, too.
2024
Kimi made the jump up to Formula 2 for 2024, becoming the youngest multiple winner in series history after wins at Silverstone and Budapest.

He got his first taste of an F1 weekend when he took part in FP1 at Monza in September.

2025
Kimi became the 13th driver to represent Mercedes in F1 when he took the start for his debut race in Melbourne, Australia. In the process he became the third-youngest driver to ever start an F1 race.

In Miami, he became the youngest driver to record an F1 pole position of any kind when he claimed P1 for the Sprint Race and became the third youngest driver to record a podium-finish after his P3 in Canada.

He finished his rookie season in the sport strong, with back-to-back podiums at Interlagos and Las Vegas, playing an important role in helping the team clinch P2 in the Constructors',
2026
Kimi's sophomore season in F1 saw him achieve success beyond his wildest dreams. Following a P2 in the Melbourne opener, he won his first Grand Prix in China, his second in Japan (becoming the youngest championship leader ever) and reeled off a further three for an unprecedented five-win streak. No other driver has ever won their first five Grands Prix consecutively.

His title credentials were tested with only one victory in six, but a miraculous home drive at Monza saw him win his first Italian GP from P19 on the grid. From there, he showed poise and determination beyond his years to extend his championship lead with disciplined drives.

In Round 19 in Mexico City, Kimi's 16th podium finish of the year was enough to become the youngest F1 World Drivers' Champion in history; Mercedes' fourth and the sport's 36th in all. Not since Lewis Hamilton in 2008 has a driver ascended to the pinnacle of motorsport in their second full season.
